Prince William, who is still an active member of the Royal Airforce, was up all night flying sailors and other members of Britain’s military to the main land. After a grueling shift of flying nearly 1,000 miles, he changed his clothes and stepped out with his wife, Kate Middleton, to open the Royal Marsden Children’s Cancer Unit.
William and Kate were married several months ago in late April, and recently spent and extended amount of time touring the world starting with a private vacation in Seychelles Island. While the honeymoon has been over for some time, the couple now is regularly attending charity events and function to increase awareness for a good cause. Prince William is the president of the Royal Marsden Foundation Trust, so sleepy or not, it would be bad form not to show up to such a major event. The dedication and search for a treatment for cancer was a particular passion of William’s mother, Princess Diana.
A 12-year-old brain cancer patient, Alice Marples interviewed the prince a couple of years ago for a British television program, and today, offered a bouquet of flowers for Kate while she chatted with the Prince. William was anxious to find out about her progess with her illness.
The couple dressed stylishly, but simply for the occasion; the Prince wearing a dark navy suit with a red-flecked tie, and the Duchess in a cream sheath dress with a pair of classic nude-colored pumps.
While this is not the first charity event the Prince and the Duchess have attended together, it might be difficult for William to keep his eyes propped open for the entirety of the ceremony. He might want to take a good long nap to recover before attending his next event or going out to fly on an RAF mission.
