The young teen starlet, Selena Gomez has been in the spotlight since the age of 7. She has been seen in everything since she played a series regular in Barney & Friends at the age of 7. She has since provided songs for such popular movies as 101 Dalmatians, Another Cinderella Story and even Tinker Bell. She has begun a long lasting career with UNICEF, even starting her own Philanthropy to help raise money for those less fortunate, and has even started her own clothing line at K-Mart stores, made from eco-friendly recycled materials. To top of her clothing line of sensible and reasonable clothes for impressionable youth, she has even let her fans help design a perfume, called Selena Gomez.
The Fragrance (http://selenagomezperfumes.com/fragrance/), a mixture of Raspberry Berries, Purple Freesia (a flowering species of the Iris family native to Africa), and Vanilla. Gomez let her female friends vote for the scent, adding “They’re the ones wearing it, so i trust them–their opinions and everything that they’ve done for me.”
She has recently come under fire for appearing too sexy in the advertisement for her new perfume. The advertisement features Gomez in a revealing purple dress, with wet slicked back hair, and seemingly standing in a fat of purple water. The dress is a representation of the perfume bottle and a long flowing red carpet gown. The dress however reveals an obscene amount of cleavage for the young influential Gomez. The photo shoot (Revealed in early December 2011), showed a wet Gomez walking in a pink-lit tank of Water up to her waist. The water played with the skirt revealing a lot of the young starlets legs, as well as the straps of the dress which were supposed to sit at her shoulders, were actually sitting much lower revealing her ample figure.
Whether the ad intended to reveal too much of the artist or she just found it a fun play on the perfume bottle remains to be seen. The new fragrance will retail at Macy’s, Nordstrom and Ulta.
