For five years, comedians Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy were a loving couple who openly doted on each other and the actress’s now ten-year-old autistic son, Evan. According to McCarthy, Carrey has, unfortunately, not kept in contact with Evan since the two split in 2010. The actress recently told radio host Howard Stern that she has asked the actor to visit with her son indirectly through other people, but that Carrey has not responded.
McCarthy also told Stern that Evan is undergoing therapy and that she has told her son that he and Carrey may meet again in the future. Carrey responded by releasing a statement to ET that said he loved and missed Evan and was doing what he thought was in the best interest of the boy that he once raised with McCarthy. While Carrey and McCarthy were together, the couple always characterized his relationship with Evan as being very close. Evan’s biological father is actor/director John Mallory Asher.
The actress is currently hosting the NBC reality show, “Love in the Wild.” In the show, singles compete against one another in challenges and also for love. This is the second season of the show, which was originally hosted by Darren McCullen.
This is the second dating related reality show that McCarthy has hosted in her career. Between 1995 and 1998, she was the host of MTV’s “Singled Out.” The funny actress will also be hosting a talk show for VH1 that will air either this summer or in the fall.
Jim Carrey last appeared in 2011’s “Mr. Popper’s Penguins. The comedian currently is scheduled to appear in three movies, “Burt Wonderstone,” “Dumb and Dumber 2,” and “Damn Yankees.”
Carrey’s biological daughter, Jane, recently made news, as well. The 24-year-old was a contestant on Fox’s popular singing talent show, “American Idol.” She made the cut to perform in Hollywood, but was eliminated after a shaky performance.
