Can’t get enough of the world of South Park? Well the people at THQ and game developers Obsidian Entertainment have provided a way for you to get your daily fix of Cartman, Kenny, Stan and Kyle in a new and hilarious game called South Park: The Stick of Truth.
The game was one of many that were on display at the Microsoft booth at the 2012 E3 show that was recently held in the Los Angeles Convention Center on June 5th through the 7th and featured all the top names in the world of gaming for PC’s and console systems.
This game is (amazingly enough) an RPG and the object of the quest is to…become cool! The game give you the chance to enter the world of South Park and become one of the gang, as the new kid who has just moved into the neighborhood…with strange powers.
You as the new kid get to make friends with Cartman and the others, as your parents break the house in so to speak. You’ll be able to customize your character, including whether you’re a boy or a girl, your character’s class and your character’s overall facial look.
The game has turn based game mechanics, allowing you to explore, talk to other NPC’s of the South Park world and of course engage in combat against your enemies. Some of the highlights of the game include lighting up enemies with sparklers, or defeating enemies with patented gas blast attacks from Cartman, in true South Park fashion of course.
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are totally involved in the overall game’s creation, and so this game has the feel of South Park, because they are responsible for the script for this game, so this game will stay true to the series. They also had some influence on the game’s artwork, so the show’s fan’s can expect many of the series often times jittery animation and many of the familiar South Park locales, and many of the other inhabitants of South Park.
This game isn’t due to hit the shelves until sometime in 2013, and so for those of you waiting for your next South park gaming fix, just keep an eye on the THQ website for updates about the game.
