Let’s give this girl props. Model and handbag designer Camila Alves has managed to convince one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors, Matthew McConaughey, 42, to take a walk down the aisle. The gorgeous two-some, who have been together for approximately six years, were wed in their Austin, Texas home on June 9, 2012 before approximately 120 guests.
Alves, 29, wore a beautiful beaded and lace wedding dress that was created by Ducarmo Castelo Branco, a Brazilian dress designer, who is also a friend of the bride’s family. The couple chose to whisper their vows to each other instead of saying them loud enough for their guests to hear, and they were serenaded with Biblical Psalms set to music by singer and friend, John Mellencamp.
The wedding was attended by a number of the couples’ celebrity pals, including actress Reese Witherspoon, who had just recently attended Drew Barrymore’s wedding, and actor Woody Harrelson.
Alves, who was born in Brazil, has worked as a model and has her own handbag line, MUXO. She also hosted the third season of Bravo’s “Shear Genius,” a hairstyling competition reality show, in 2010. She and McConaughey first met in a bar in 2006 and have had two children together, a son Levi, who is three, and a daughter Vida, who is two. McConaughey finally proposed to Alves, on Christmas day 2011, after presenting the beauty with a three-carat, rose-cut Cathy Water-man-designed engagement ring.
McConaughey, has appeared in a number of hit movies, including rom-coms “The Wedding Planner” with Jennifer Lopez and “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” with Kate Hudson. McConaughey, who was named People Magazine’s Bachelor of the Year in 2007, also has a reputation for often being shirtless and flashing his six-pack abs.
The actor will next appear with Tatum Channing in “Magic Mike,” which is a film about male strippers. Although McConaughey is not playing a stripper — he will portray the owner of the strip club — he reportedly stays true to his reputation and manages to appears shirtless during a lot of his screen time.
