Singers Chris Brown and Drake apparently have some serious bad blood between them as the two and/or members of their entourages reportedly came to blows in a New York City bar on Thurday night, June 14, 2012. After the fight, Chris Brown tweeted a picture of himself with a bloody gash on his chin.
A number of different accounts of the evening’s brouhaha have emerged. About the only thing everyone seems to agree on is that bottles were thrown at the club, which is called WIP. Who started the fight and the cause have been different in the various accounts.
According to NBC’s Today Show, a woman who was reportedly at the club during the bottle-throwing melee, said that the incident occurred after Drake sent over a note to Brown’s table. Other people claim that Brown sent a bottle of alcohol to Drake and that some reference was made about the singer, Rihanna, who dated both Brown and Drake. In the latter account, Drake reportedly threw the bottle at Brown.
For his part, Drake’s people denied to TMZ that the singer caused the fight. They claim it was another rapper Meek Mill, not Drake who got in the initial fight with Brown. Unfortunately for Drake, the NYPD is not buying that version of the story. On Saturday, Fox News was reporting that Drake would be arrested soon for his involvement in the fight.
Regardless of who started the fight, the end result was nasty. Brown was not the only one injured in the fight. NBA player Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs, who was hanging out with Brown that evening, suffered a scratched retina during the brawl. Parker was about to start practicing with Team France for the Olympics, but will have to sit out practice for about a week while the injury heals.
A total of five people were treated for injuries at the scene, and pictures of the nightclub show that it was trashed during the brawl.
