It’s almost like putting the cart before the horse, but a Los Angeles judge in the case has ordered Halle Berry to pay her former boyfriend, Gabriel Aubrey, $20,000 a month in child support. What’s so ironic about that? Well, for starters, they don’t know who is going to end up with primary custody of their 4 year old daughter, Nahla. It’s clear that Berry, who is an Oscar winning actress, is the main bread winner, but it seems a little quick to be giving Aubrey $20K a month when he doesn’t even have sole custody.
The court battle between Berry and former beau, Aubrey, has been going on quite some time. The case has gotten ugly several times as the duo fought over both money and possession of their daughter. Now that Berry is engaged, this time to Frenchman, Olivier Martinez, she has petitioned the court to give her sole custody. The catch to that is she plans on moving to France and taking her young daughter with her. With all of the drama surrounding her break up with Aubrey and the recent legal battle with the man who was convicted of stalking her, Berry wants to leave California behind in the hopes of giving her little girl some semblance of a normal life.
It is Hollywood, so who is to say which parent has the child’s best interest at heart? Aubrey’s plea to the judge that granted him the hefty child support allowance consisted of him wanting the money to “properly raise” Nahla. Not sure how the poor folks in the Midwest get by on their tiny child support payments, but I’m sure Aubrey wants his daughter to have the best of everything. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind treating himself like a king in the process, but let’s hope he remembers who the money is really for and spends it accordingly.
