When it comes to side scrolling games, there are just a few characters that come to mind. Of course the first name that comes to mind is a certain little plumber named Mario. Then you can add in the names of Sonics and Crash Bandicoot, but one of my favorite characters has to a certain little guy that just has a head that sort of floats above his torso. The same goes for his head and feet.

The cute character is Rayman, and at the E3 event held in Los Angeles just a few weeks ago, and the folks responsible for bringing Rayman to your favorite console is bringing us a new adventure for Nintendo’s new Wii U handheld that will be coming out sometime later in 2012.

The newest game in the franchise is called Rayman Legends, and the cuddly little guy is back for this new adventure along with his pal Globox and those other cute little critters called the Teensies, and the adventure this time takes us to legendary worlds to explore.

This time around Ubi Soft has given players fresh new environments to explore, new enemies to fight against, and they’ve even given us musical maps and a medieval theme with a spooky musical background associated with it. Of course the folks at Ubi Soft have kept the character’s overall fantasy appeal, and still managed to give us more to shout about.

This game delivers to us new characters, new levels of game play, new modes of game play, and an all new game engine that powers the whole experience. The game also is able to deliver multi-dimensional game play, and an all new lighting system, and make no mistake all of these improvements raises Rayman Legends to an all new level that makes it the perfect follow-up to last year’s very well received Rayman Origins.

I really do not have a lot of information about the new Wii U that Nintendo is getting ready to release upon it’s loyal and faithful customers and other devotees, but if what I’ve seen featured in the E3 trailer from this new game, then there is a lot of power underneath the Nintendo Wii U hand held unit.

Rayman Legends doesn’t have any set release date as of yet, but my best guess would be that it will make its appearance sometime in the second quarter of 2013.
